We are not 100% sure of the identity of this teacher, however due to the facial features, the hair, the lotus petal collar and the book in his left hand we think it is Buddhashri. The detail of his clothing is quite good and is best seen from an angled view. This piece is extremely heavy, the weight defies the size and can only be accounted for by one of three possibilities: ~~1. It is "sky-iron" ~~2. It is filled with gold. ~~3. It is filled with lead. We are opting for #1. Sky-iron has a very low carbon and oxygen content and is deceptively heavy and would be something that would most likely have been accorded a teacher of this magnitude. The bottom of this statue is copper and has the double-dorje patters mark. This statue was saved from one of the many monasteries in central Tibet that were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.
